I am writing to praise columnist John Kass. Mr. Kass is one of the few people in print journalism I respect. John is a journalist who is willing and able to ask the tough questions. He has repeatedly challenged the shortsided policies and heavy-handed political actions of elected officials.

Furthermore, Mr. Kass has systematically exposed the cronyism and corruption that exists in Chicago city government.

John Kass does not write what the politicians and special interests want to hear. In my opinion, Mr. Kass is different from other journalists (publishers, editors, columnists and staff writers). He is not a puppet or a “yes” man. John Kass is a voice for truth and fairness in local government. He is an asset to democracy.

I hope that someday my hometown newspaper will employ a journalist like John Kass.
