The resurgence of Panda populations in captivity is positive reinforcement for zoologists, curators and wildlife biologists who have tirelessly endeavored to salvage direly imperiled species (Page 1, Nov. 10). Zoos, sanctuaries and marine aquariums have exhibited ingenuity through creating hospitable environs simulating natural habitats. Lamentably, poaching, ecosystem damage and other exploitive travesties continue to ravage countless endangered species. The dedicated experts who have dramatically enhanced living conditions for captive wildlife merit recognition as saviors providing peaceful havens for besieged creatures.
