Harold Kruley, 89, a Chicago real estate lawyer active in community affairs in Oak Park, died Friday at home in Oak Park. Raised in the city and educated at the University of Chicago, Mr. Kruley became a partner at Jenner & Block, family members said. He retired in 1991. Mr. Kruley also was active in civic affairs, working with the American Veterans Committee, serving on the Oak Park Zoning Board of Appeals and helping found the Village Managers Association, an Oak Park good-government group, his son, Michael, said. Mr. Kruley was a former president of West Suburban Temple Har Zion, where he was known as “a person who could get a different view to the table and come up with a good direction,” Rabbi Victor Mirelman said. Mr. Kruley was especially proud of his service in the Navy during World War II, his son said. Other survivors include a daughter, Barbara, and two grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the temple, 1040 N. Harlem Ave., River Forest.
