I always thought it was the parents who bore the children and thus became responsible for their education and behavior. The teacher is only a low-paid government worker, the superintendent is a well-paid politician and the school board members are well-meaning community volunteers. These people are not responsible for raising our children. It is not Jesse Jackson’s or the state superintendent’s or the federal government’s responsibility to raise our children. It’s the parents’ responsibility.
