Carl C. Drammis, 94, a former Chicago Police Department commander who worked on the park and city police forces for 38 years, died Thursday of natural causes in a Scottsdale, Ariz., hospital. Mr. Drammis was born and raised on the Near West Side of Chicago. He joined the West Park police in the early 1930s, patrolling the Garfield Park area. When the area park departments merged, Mr. Drammis became a member of the Park District police and rose to the rank of captain. When the Chicago police and the park police merged in 1959, Mr. Drammis became the commanding officer of the Rogers Park police district. He later transferred to the Albany Park district, where he retired as a commander in the late 1960s. Mr. Drammis and his wife moved to Arizona shortly after his retirement. Mr. Drammis is survived by his wife, Katherine; a son, Carl; a daughter, Roslyn Melka; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge. Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul of the Cross Church, 320 S. Washington Ave., Park Ridge.
