Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I am a 6th grade student at St. Mary of Gostyn in Downers Grove. For my social studies class, I had to take an article from a newspaper and talk about it to the class. I chose your article on Harry Potter (“Should Harry be expelled from class?” Perspective, Nov. 7). I have read all three books and love them. I don’t think it teaches children anything bad at all if they know the difference between real and make-believe.

Is it OK to believe that fairies can do magic in “Sleeping Beauty” and “Cinderella,” but a boy can’t do magic in “Harry Potter”? All the magic in Harry Potter is just for the simple meaning of fun, not to cast a spell on someone to kill him.

So why do parents say fairy tales are OK to have magic in them but not in a story like Harry Potter? I don’t respect anyone’s opinion when they didn’t even read the book and are just passing down rumors. I enjoyed reading Harry Potter so much that I have told all my friends to read them also. And after they do, they agree with me too.
