Earl E. Splitt, 60, of Mt. Prospect, a former insurance adjuster, died Saturday at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge. Born in Chicago, Mr. Splitt graduated from Weber High School and obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Marquette University in Milwaukee, where he met his wife of 40 years, Joan. After moving back to Chicago, Mr. Splitt began working in the insurance industry. He worked as an agent and later as an adjuster for several insurance firms in the northwest suburbs before he took disability leave in 1989. “He loved fishing and he loved his grandchildren,” said his daughter Linda Lauschke. Other survivors include two sons, Michael and Robert; another daughter, Susan Marx; his father, Edwin; a brother, Jerome; and four granddaughters. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Emily Catholic Church, 101 N. Horner Lane., Mt. Prospect.
