St. Louis coach Joel Quenneville, the fifth bench boss in team history to guide the Blues to 100 regular-season wins, has been on a roll this season. Quenneville passed Red Berenson with his 101st win, a 4-1 decision over Calgary Oct 6. He overtook Jacques Demers with his 107th win on Oct. 30, a 5-4 decision over Detroit. Last Wednesday second place was his alone following win No. 111, a 3-2 victory over Toronto. At this rate, Quenneville will be the all-time winningest coach in Blues history by November 2000 and will require 45 fewer games than current leader Brian Sutter to do so.

THE HIGH LIFE

Detroit captain Steve Yzerman became the 10th player in history to reach the 900-assist plateau last Wednesday in a 7-2 win over the Canucks in Vancouver. Yzerman is one goal shy of becoming the 11th player in history to score 600 regular-season goals. When combining these two milestones, Yzerman further distinguishes himself as only the fifth player to log both 600 goals and 900 assists. The first four were Gordie Howe, Marcel Dionne, Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier.

ROCK N’ ROLL

Pittsburgh’s Jaromir Jagr was forced to leave Tuesday’s 3-2 win over Buffalo with an injury, snapping his 15-game point-scoring streak. The streak was the eighth longest of its kind this decade and at 2.2 points per game was the second most productive scoring streak since 1990. Mats Sundin had the decade’s longest consecutive point scoring streak at 30 games when he skated for the Quebec Nordiques while Wayne Gretzky’s 2.3 points per game was the most prolific. Gretzky holds the NHL record for the longest consecutive point scoring streak in history at 51 games. The eight longest streaks since 1990:
