Ever wonder which toys are the best of the century? That’s the subject of a new display at the Museum of Science and Industry, “Kid Stuff: Great Toys From Our Childhood,” running through Jan. 2.

Many of these time-tested favorites have been featured in recent movies (including “Toy Story 2”). Chances are good that you’ve played with a few of these toys yourself.

To make the list of toys of the century, toys had to have been around for at least 25 years and still be sold today. The list includes Barbie, Candy Land, Crayola, Etch A Sketch, Frisbee, Monopoly, Mr. Potato Head, Nerf ball, Play-Doh, Pez (those are some above), Slinky, Tonka Trucks, Twister and Yahtzee.

Gag toys, such as Itching Powder, Sneezing Powder and Whoopee Cushions, get their due. Also included is the best back-yard game of all time, Wiffle Ball (OK, so that’s our opinion).

The Museum of Science of Industry, 57th Street and Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, is open 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and to 5:30 p.m. weekends. Admission is $3.50 for kids 11 and under, $7 for anyone older. For more information, call 773-684-1414.
