The Michigan Supreme Court has adopted new rules for all judicial campaigns, including setting Feb. 15 as the date candidates can begin soliciting donations in an election year, and holding the amount they can solicit from lawyers to $100.
The rules took effect Jan. 1. The court also revealed it will consider prohibiting judges from asking for contributions from lawyers they had appointed to cases within the previous two years.
