An East Dundee developer’s proposal to build a three-story, 220-unit apartment complex at Illinois Highways 25 and 72 was put on hold after a public hearing on the plan was delayed.
The East Dundee Plan Commission delayed the recent public hearing on PAR Development Inc.’s zoning variation request because PAR did not submit preliminary engineering drawings and traffic studies.
The Plan Commission will continue the public hearing on PAR’s zoning variance request at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Summit School in East Dundee.
PAR is requesting a zoning variance to residential use from general business use to build the complex along with two retail buildings on 27 acres. The developer has also offered to donate 1.5 acres to the village for a Village Hall.
At a November public hearing more than 200 people packed the gymnasium of Summit School to oppose the apartment complex.
Village officials sent letters to residents indicating the Plan Commission was going to delay another public hearing until January. But about 50 people showed up for the recent meeting anyway.
“If they (PAR) are not going to submit what they’re supposed to submit, then they should stop the hearings,” said East Dundee resident Jerry Bartels.
