Two religious authors grace the Chicago Public Library this week with personal appearances.

– Thomas Cahill discusses “Desire of the Everlasting Hills: The World Before and After Jesus” at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Harold Washington Library Center, 400 S. State St.

– “I Am Your Brother Joseph: A Life of Joseph Cardinal Bernardin of Chicago” is Tim Unsworth’s (above) latest; he’ll be on hand for a reading at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Roden Branch, 6083 N. Northwest Highway. Both events are free. 312-747-4050; www.chipublib.org.
