Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

In the Jan. 4 issue of the Tribune, Mike Conklin wrote a nasty little article (“Wrestling purists ache to throw pros out of ring”), and while I’m on the subject it was very misleading and very poorly done as well.

Let me ask you something, How often do you actually watch wrestling? Where do you get your wrestling information? Your little statistics were a joke. Now, not to say anything bad about your hero, John Lockhart, but you talked about Mick Foley like he was a Third World degenerate and your little farmboy was a saint.

Now like I said before, I’m sure Lockhart is a splendid lad with a bright future ahead of him, but let’s be realistic here, the kid’s not the divine awesome one here.

Let’s review your stats shall we? Most of it’s pretty good until we get to Mick’s favorite hold, which you say is the mandible claw; the favorite hold of his is the double arm DDT, in which he puts his opponent in a modified chicken-wing lock then drops them on their face.

Accomplishments in the ring, now your little friend is impressive here, and for good old Mick, all you’re saying is that he fell off a cage. Now listen here, and listen good. Back in the day Mick wrestled in Germany and Japan, and that stuff was real, he had beaten the toughest people there, and taken incredible damage and got back up and won.

I bet no high school or college wrestler would even be conscious after the stuff he’s gone through, so put that in your pipe and smoke it.
