With one kitchen on the main floor and another on the lower level, “What’s for dinner?” might have more than one answer on any given night at this three-bedroom ranch home, where, for nearly 26 years, Ronald and Geraldine O’Connell have lived and raised a family.

The west suburban home, at 7306 Larchwood in Woodridge, features two complete kitchens–an ideal arrangement for live-in in-laws. In fact, “two” seems to be the operant word throughout this home. There are two garages–an attached 1 1/2-car garage and a detached two-car garage–plenty of parking space for the in-laws’ car or for the family teenager who has his or her own vehicle. There are also two bathrooms, one upstairs and one on the lower level, where the second kitchen can be found.

Whether you’re relaxing upstairs in the combination living room/dining room or downstairs in the spacious family room, there is something for everyone to love in this well-maintained raised ranch.

The home was built in 1967. The O’Connells replaced the storm windows and doors within the last four years. The upstairs bath also was remodeled three years ago. The furnace was replaced approximately two years ago. Sharyn and Mike Kampmeyer of Coldwell Banker in Naperville’s 75th Street office list the home at $166,000.

The first room you encounter upon entering the home is the living room, which measures 13 by 12, and features a beautiful bay window and fireplace. The living room adjoins the 8-by-10 dining room. There is carpeting throughout the home, which covers hardwood flooring in the living room, dining room, hallway and bedrooms, said Mike Kampmeyer.

The home’s upstairs kitchen measures 12 by 9 and overlooks the fenced-in back yard, which is home to a storage shed. A full hall bath is located next to the three bedrooms. The bathroom features updated ceramic-tiled floors, a new vanity and whirlpool tub. The smallest of the three bedrooms measures 9 by 9. Across from this room is the master bedroom, which measures 9 by 15. Both of these rooms face Larchwood. Across from the master bedroom is the third bedroom, which measures 10 by 12.

With a kitchen on the lower level, it almost feels as if you have two homes in one. The lower-level kitchen, which measures 20 by 12, features a second stove, which, along with the upstairs stove, will stay with the home when it is sold.

However, the refrigerator will not stay, said Kampmeyer. The lower level features paneled walls. There is also a pantry large enough to store all of your household goods. A utility room is located conveniently nearby with hook-ups ready for a washer and dryer. A door in the utility room leads out to the attached garage.

Also on the lower level, along with the family room,is an adjacent office. The family room measures 13 by 13. The office, which measures 7 by 14, could be converted into a fourth bedroom. The nearby second bathroom has a shower stall.

“This would be great for an in-law arrangement or for teenagers who want their private space,” said Kampmeyer.

The home has central air conditioning and forced-air gas heat. It also features a whole-house attic fan. Taxes for 1998 were $3,222. The two-car garage was built eight years ago. Both garages have aluminum siding and automatic door openers.

The home is in DuPage County. Elementary-school students are served by four school districts: Woodridge School District 68, Naperville School District 203 and Downers Grove School Districts 58 and 66. High-school students attend Downers Grove North and South in District 99.

Woodridge is 23 miles west of the Loop. The home is accessible to Interstates 55, 88 and 355.

Midway and O’Hare airports are approximately 15 and 25-minute drives, respectively.
