Noah Hoffman is “shocked” that test scores are made public by posting them on attendance lists (Voice of the people, Feb. 1). Perhaps the more public that knowledge of test scores is made, the more peer pressure that might be exerted upon the students to urge them to succeed (as well as pressure upon the parents to urge the students to do better). Mr. Hoffman’s letter is but another example of how we coddle our children. Children are resilient creatures. One may nurture one’s child without shielding him or her from the realities of life.
