The Barrington Plan Commission Tuesday night voted to recommend the Village Board reject a proposed residential subdivision planned by Northwest Community Healthcare, saying it would violate the village’s tree ordinance.
Northwest officials told the more than 50 residents at the meeting that legally the village can not stop development of the 15-acre parcel along Northwest Highway and Lake Zurich Road.
Barrington Citizens for Open Space, a local not-for-profit organization, has asked the village’s Park District to condemn or purchase the property.
Northwest is seeking approval of a 28-home development as a way to protect the hospital’s right to eventually build a medical office building, treatment and wellness center on the parcel.
