Anthony L. Zonzo, 80, a decorated World War II Army veteran and a longtime resident of Oak Park, died Monday, Feb. 28, in the Anchorage, a Bensenville nursing home. Mr. Zonzo was wounded twice while serving in Europe under the command of Gen. George Patton and was awarded two Purple Hearts, said his daughter, Patricia Zubak. Born in Auburn, Wash., Mr. Zonzo retired from Ecko Products in Chicago, where he worked in the company’s commercial bakery division. “He was a simple man who loved his family as well as the Chicago White Sox and Blackhawks,” his daughter said. Other survivors include a son, Frank; five sisters, Concetta Anzelmo, Theresa Sonandres, Anna Gruba, Sue Kwasigroch and Frances Garbarski; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday in The Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, with mass at 9:30 a.m. in Visitation Catholic Church, 779 S. York St., Elmhurst.
