C. Michael Sharpless, 59, of Schaumburg, a documentary videomaker, died of cancer Monday, Feb. 28, in Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Born in Chicago, Mr. Sharpless was raised in LaPorte, Ind. He was a self-employed historical videomaker focusing on Native American culture. A resident of Schaumburg for the last 20 years, Mr. Chapman also was a pianist, composer and a writer of poetry. “He was very creative in all fields,” said his mother, Elda. Other survivors include his wife, Gayle; two stepdaughters, Kimberly Borden and Jill Roberts; a stepson, Jeffrey Yoder; a sister, Julie Kessler; a brother, Jack; and nine step-grandchildren. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in LaPorte Presbyterian Church, 307 Kingsbury Ave., LaPorte.
