Hurray for Barbara Hill’s letter on tragedy therapy (Voice of the people, Feb. 26). She had the courage to write what many of us are thinking about this intervention practice–the rush to send crisis counselors to schools when there has been an accidental death of students, sometimes only one or two. Of course the deaths are tragic, but rushing counselors to the school appears to be sending a message that they must not grieve alone or with their peers but need outside help.
Are we creating even more dependency?
