I think it is absolutely unacceptable that children need to be afraid in school because of the potential violence that may occur.
Installing metal detectors and having security guards stationed at various locations may help the parents and teachers to feel at ease; in the meantime, the children are still afraid of who may bring the next gun to school.
I feel the problem begins in the family and in the upbringing of the child. Kids need to be taught right from wrong, not how to avoid possible violence at school.
