Albert W. Meyer, 94, of Arlington Heights, former owner of Meyer Brothers Dairy, died Monday, March 6, in the Lutheran Home For the Aged. A lifelong resident of Arlington Heights, Mr. Meyer became involved in the dairy industry when he started working in 1931 at Fessler Farm there. By 1938 he and his brother, Herman, decided to buy the dairy and renamed it Meyer Brothers Dairy. His company processed milk and delivered bottled milk to homes and commercial clients such as nursing homes, day care centers and schools. The dairy continued to make home deliveries until a year ago. Mr. Meyer retired in the mid-1980s but continued working part-time at the dairy until 1998. “He could still put in a good day’s work,” said his son, Lloyd. “As long as he had his three meals and a dime in his pocket, he was very happy.” Other survivors include six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A service will be private.
