Rose L. Smith, 66, of Palatine died Tuesday, March 7, in Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Born in Chicago, Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and worked part time cleaning the offices of Kemper Insurance in Long Grove from 1982 to 1998. For the past two years, Mrs. Smith worked for the Arlington Heights Park District’s Children at Play program, which offers early-morning baby-sitting for elementary school pupils. Mrs. Smith took care of pupils at Riley Elementary School in Arlington Heights. “She was a terrific person,” said her daughter, Deborah. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.
