Tadeusz Sobota, 75, of Darien, died Wednesday, March 8, in Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Born in Bnazow, Poland, Mr. Sobota and his family immigrated to France and finally to the United States in March 1968. Their first residence in the United States was on the North Side of Chicago, where Mr. Sobota’s wife had relatives. “He wanted us to have a better life,” said Mr. Sobota’s daughter, Lucy Twardzik. In Chicago, Mr. Sobota was a machinist for Walsh Press. Mr. Sobota enjoyed his job because it allowed him to provide for his family, Twardzik said. “He gave us everything that we needed,” she said. “He was a hard worker and a good man.” In addition to his work, Mr. Sobota enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. “They all remember him playing Frisbee and soccer with them,” Twardzik said. Though Mr. Sobota enjoyed the sport of fishing, he especially liked sitting in a boat, surrounded by his family. “It was the serenity of it that he liked,” Twardzik added. Other survivors include his wife, Irena; three daughters, Wanda Beben, Bonnie Skwarek and Mary Swiatek; a son, Stanley; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Church, 701 Plainfield Rd., Darien.
