Vladimir Snobl, 73, of West Chicago and formerly of Villa Park, died Wednesday, March 8, in Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Born in Chicago, Mr. Snobl worked in the sales department of Dresser Industries. As a sales representative, Mr. Snobl traveled throughout the Midwest. “He did like traveling to a point, but he didn’t like being away from his family for too long,” said his daughter, Nancy Polich. Mr. Snobl retired about 20 years ago, and since his retirement, had enjoyed golfing and fishing. “He also enjoying going to the horse races with my mother,” Polich said. “He loved Arlington.” One of his favorite activities was attempting to make his friends laugh by pretending to be in a foul mood, an act he often put on at Mike’s Meat Market in Villa Park, where he was a regular customer. “They named their crab salad after him,” his daughter said. “They would say, `Oh, you must be here for your Vladimir salad.’ ” A Korean War veteran, Mr. Snobl was a member of the VFW post in Elmhurst and the Berwyn Moose lodge. Other survivors include his wife, Margaret; three sons, Thomas, Steven and David; and six grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Pius X Church, at Westmore Street and Meyers Road, Lombard.
