After George Bush’s and Al Gore’s Super Tuesday victories, the media declared the presidential nominations are basically decided. It’s obvious that with our late March primary date, Illinois citizens are, in effect, left out of the presidential nomination process. Knowing the outcomes of all the states that have already voted must certainly affect voter turnout in Illinois, because other than local and state elections and patriotic duty, there is no incentive to go to the poles.
We live in a democracy where every vote is supposed to count, but it seems that if anyone really wants their vote to count, they’ll have to move to New Hampshire or California.
