A hometown boy is returning to fill the vacancy left by departing Village Manager Kurt Bressner.

Former assistant village manager Bryon Vana, a Wood Dale native and Fenton High School graduate, was hired after trustees accepted Bressner’s resignation at a special Village Board meeting last week.

Vana began working for Bensenville in 1985 as a code enforcement officer and rose to administrative assistant and assistant village manager before leaving in 1993 to become village manager of Winfield. He currently is assistant village manager and director of public services for Willowbrook. He will take office in Bensenville the week of April 10.

“I will miss Willowbrook. There are a lot of fine people there I’ll miss working with,” Vana said. “But I’m excited about going back to Bensenville.”
