I am pleased that the Class A state basketball tournaments have received good coverage in the Chicago Tribune. Many big-city dwellers grew up in small-town America; for most of us, our hearts are still there. High school basketball remains a source of pride and inspiration and brings people together, as the private enterprise of the Bulls has done for Chicago. Although individual deviate behavior grabs sports headlines and sells newspapers, media coverage of things that are culturally important provide an important perspective from which a sense of balance can be restored.
