Beatrice Joy Lowe, 72, a volunteer for and member of several Jewish organizations and causes and who helped raise funds to support Israel, died Sunday, March 19, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Lowe was a lifetime member of Anshe Emet synagogue on the North Side. Though she taught grade school classes for a time at the Anshe Emet Day School, Mrs. Lowe was more known for her fundraising efforts, winning the State of Israel 25th Anniversary Founder’s Award and the Israel Bond Scroll of Honor, She was named a Woman of Valor for her fundraising efforts on behalf of Israel. She actively sold State of Israel bonds during the Six-Day War in the Middle East and continued the practice until the early 1980s, when she took over the day-to-day operations of her husband’s jewelry business. She retired last year. Mrs. Lowe is survived by two sons, Barry and Peter; a daughter, Sheri Ann Rothschild; a sister, Zenia Revitz; and five grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Piser Chapel, 9200 N. Skokie Blvd. in Skokie.
