James R. Bowton, 76, of Elmhurst and formerly Oak Brook, died Sunday, March 19, in ManorCare Health Services in Westmont. Born in Cliffton Forge, Va., Mr. Bowton worked in construction sales and was a B-17 pilot with the Army Air Forces during World War II. An avid tennis player, Mr. Bowton was a fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions. Survivors include his wife, Mildred; three sons, Bruce, James Jr. and Bradley; a daughter, Beth Scinto; four grandchildren; two brothers, Reese and Lowell; and a sister, Virginia Knox. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst.
