A plan for a 37-unit town home development in Bartlett was put in limbo on Thursday when a DuPage County Forest Preserve panel did not grant the developer an easement to provide proper stormwater drainage for the site.
The project by Rizzi & Daughters Real Estate Development Inc. called for the development of 7.3 acres at Army Trail and Fair Oaks Roads, with town homes ranging up to 2,600 square feet with two-car garages. The plan has been in and out of government board rooms in Bartlett and DuPage County for nearly six years.
The developer needs the easement to allow storm water to flow into a wetland in the West Branch Forest Preserve. But the Planning and Development Committee turned down the request, saying the plan would not benefit the preserve’s property. The plan had been approved by Bartlett trustees.
Rizzi still may ask the full Forest Preserve Commission to reconsider the panel’s decision. The developer’s attorney declined to comment.
