As one of Rep. Philip M. Crane’s proud constituents, I was sorry to hear his announcement of sick leave this week (News, March 22).

In an era in which few elected officials seem to give the time of day to their oaths of office, it has always been a pleasure to vote for Rep. Crane, whose oath to defend the Constitution has been his guiding principle throughout his tenure. Since the day he first arrived in Washington, Rep. Crane has been the most steadfast, principled man in Congress.

He’ll be missed these coming weeks, and we’ll be happy to see him return to his seat soon, to continue the solid conservative voting record that his fans have cheered for so long.

Best of luck for a speedy recuperation, Congressman Crane!
