In response to the train-truck collision in Bourbonnais last March that killed 11 people, the Senate on Friday sent to Gov. George Ryan a bill to create a statewide computer database in the secretary of state’s office of drivers placed on court supervision.

The bill would create a central clearinghouse for the cases.

Court supervision is a form of probation that allows drivers to expunge records of offenses, such as speeding, if they avoid traffic tickets during the supervision period.

The bill follows the discovery that John Stokes, the truck driver involved in the Bourbonnais crash, had multiple court supervision dispositions in several jurisdictions.
