Thank you for your Books section, which published a review of the book “Kerner: The Conflict of Intangible Rights” on March 19. And thank you so much for publishing the article by Gov. Kerner’s son, Anton, which further amplified the sad events that happened to this man, who had dedicated his life to public service.

I was looking out the front window of my small real estate office in Antioch, when Gov. Otto Kerner appeared at the corner of Lake and Victoria Streets. He had just emerged from King’s Pharmacy and was carrying a bag of prescription medication. I hurried up to him, saying hello, and assured him that he was one of my heroes. Political party had nothing to do with it; it was admiration and thanks for a life spent serving the public.

So I thank you for these two printed pieces. And maybe from them will come the beginning of something that culminates in the reversal of Kerner’s conviction.
