Inez A. Anderson, 99, of Arlington Heights always had a plate of cookies ready for friends and strangers alike. Mrs. Anderson died Thursday, March 23, in Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. “Even when she was leaving to go to the hospital for the last time, she offered cookies to the doctors and nurses who were treating her,” said Beth Drost, the director of Hearthstone, an assisted living center at the Lutheran Home for the Aged in Arlington Heights, where she lived. Mrs. Anderson was born in Joliet and remained in her hometown until moving to the Lutheran Home in 1993. Mrs. Drost served on the Lutheran Home’s Food Advisory Committee, where she made menu suggestions to the facility’s dietitians and cooks. She also was a supporter of Media Associates International, an organization that promotes Christian publications worldwide, and was an advocate for her fellow residents with disabilities. “She was smiling all the time and had such a good-natured personality,” Drost said. “There were a lot of tears here last week.” Survivors include her son, Robert W.; daughter, Marlene Warden; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cumberland Baptist Church, 1500 E. Central Rd., Mt. Prospect.
