Wild Ones, a national, not-for-profit organization promoting natural landscaping, is forming a chapter in Cary.
To raise awareness of the group and get word out on the benefits of a natural garden, a slide presentation on native woodland wildflowers in Northern Illinois will be given at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
The speaker will be Perle Olsson of the McHenry County Defenders.
The mission of the Cary Wild Ones chapter will be to help residents restore back yards to a natural state and connect them with public greenways. Butterflies are usually the first species to return when native gardens are planted, said Linda Stelle, who’s helping spearhead the chapter’s formation.
