In Virginia, the NRA gives money to the Richmond program of tougher gun laws, where carrying an illegal gun is a felony. In Illinois the NRA prevents reinstatement of the Safe Neighborhoods Act, struck down on a technicality, unless carrying a gun during a crime is changed from felony to misdemeanor.

It is time for the NRA to stop talking out of both sides of its mouth. Slightly inconveniencing legitimate gun owners is a small price to pay for saving lives in Illinois, as well as in Virginia.
