Wayne A. Simmons, 48, a salesman from Palatine, died of cancer Thursday, April 20, in his home. Mr. Simmons was raised in Atlanta and moved to Racine, Wis., in the mid-1990s. After moving to Palatine two years ago, Mr. Simmons worked as a branch sales manager for Insulation Plus, a supplier of roofing and insulation products in Des Plaines. “He was a very competitive person,” said his brother-in-law, Mike Ellis. “He was outgoing, fun-loving and had a great sense of humor.” Other survivors include his wife of 17 years, Lynn; a son, Scott Mulhollen; two daughters, Vicky Britton and Krista; his mother, Helen Harrell; a sister, Marjorie Huckeba; and his grandfather, Alvin Joiner. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave., Libertyville. A service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Long Grove Community Church, Robert Parker Coffin Road, Long Grove.
