Services will be held Friday and Saturday for Lt. L.C. Merrell, an 18-year Chicago Fire Department veteran assigned to Hook and Ladder Co. 24 who died over the weekend.
Merrell, 43, was heading to a South Side alarm call last Saturday when his firetruck collided with a landscaping truck at 107th and Throop Streets.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Leak & Sons Funeral Home, 7838 S. Cottage Grove Ave. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Metropolitan Community Church, 4100 S. King Drive.
