Unquestionably universities should be held accountable for the present state of grades and the diminished workloads of students. The fact is that parents and students are not getting what they pay for and it is due to the bottom-line approach of college administrators. They don’t want professors who challenge students. How many of those students paying exorbitant tuition even see their professors when they are being taught by teaching assistants? The days of the university as a meritocracy went out the window when financial considerations took precedence over integrity. We will all pay the price for that compromise in the future.
