William C. Brooks, 93, a resident of Beacon Hill retirement community in Lombard and formerly of Berwyn, died Monday, May 1, in Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Born in Chicago, Mr. Brooks for 55 years was the office manager of the Chicago law firm of Mayer, Brown and Platt. A golfer, Mr. Brooks also enjoyed amateur boxing and baseball. Mr. Brooks is survived by a daughter, Karen Herbert; and three grandchildren. A memorial gathering will begin at 2:30 p.m. with services at 3 p.m. Saturday in the home of Karen and Paul Herbert, 151 E. Berkshire Ave., Lombard.
