Birthday: Nov. 16, 1964.
Birthplace: Chicago.
Occupation: Actor.
Current home: Chicago and Los Angeles.
Marital status: Single.
Working on: I play Walter Lee Younger in “A Raisin in the Sun” at the Goodman Theatre and I’m in the movie “Titus.”
The last good movie I saw: “The Cider House Rules.”
I stay home to watch: Basketball games, especially the Lakers and the Bulls.
The book I’ve been reading: I’m reviewing Latin grammar. I learned it in high school in the seminary, but I forgot most of it.
Favorite meal: Lamb Roman style, which means cut into strips, baked in a brick oven and basted with olive oil. But only if Enzo in Rome cooks it.
Favorite performer: Anthony Hopkins, especially in “The Remains of the Day,” the greatest performance in cinema history.
Prized possession: My digital grand piano, a Yamaha GT1.
Personal heroes: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Nat Turner and Sojourner Truth.
People always think I’m: Christopher B. Duncan on “The Jamie Foxx Show.” I confuse myself sometimes.
I’m better than anyone else when it comes to: Feeling guilty.
If I could do it over: I would have started studying music at 3 or 4. I didn’t start piano till I was 15.
I’d give anything to meet: Julius Caesar. I think he’s the greatest man of all time, the consummate politician-warrior-scholar-inventor. He was courage, character and honor personified.
My fantasy is: I’m on stage with Richard Burton, Marlon Brando, Anthony Hopkins, Jessica Lange and Meryl Streep and we’re doing Shakespeare’s “Coriolanus.”
My most irrational act: Leaving the seminary when I was 18 to become an actor.
The three words that best describe me: Persistent, patient and romantic.
