Carri Karuhn’s “Day care’s revolving door” correctly describes the low pay for Illinois’ child-care workers, but it fails to appreciate the impact the bonuses will bring to staff in our child-care programs. This bill approved wage supplements to child-care teachers based on their level of education and length of time they have worked in the same setting. I hope this bill will open the doors for additional pay increases for our child-care workers to match their income with those of teachers in public schools.
