I agree with the sentiments and efforts of the Million Mom March and applaud the rise to action; however, the solution to reduction of violence from personal attacks, be it with a gun or other weapon, is to allow citizens to protect themselves. This means allowing everyone to carry a concealed weapon for the sake of self-preservation.
Consider these points:
In places where this practice is legal, rates have dropped precipitously from the time of inception of this rule.
From a logistics point of view, it’s virtually impossible for a police officer to be right at the scene of a crime as it’s about to be committed, thus the police are completely ineffective as a means of self-defense.
Every human being on this planet has both the right and obligation, from God himself, to defend themselves from a mortal attack. Currently it’s illegal to defend yourself in the city of Chicago–it is one of the most dangerous cities on Earth for this reason. If every citizen were able to conceal a weapon, legally, for self-defense, then criminals would be far more reluctant to carry out their heinous crimes, knowing full well that they’re no longer at a strategic advantage.
