John Kass may be a worthy successor to Mike Royko, but I take exception to his parenthetical, off-the-wall quote of Chip Caray in his May 18 column: “You’ve got to wait until she’s 18 to take her to Vegas. Until then, pal, you’re on your own.” Kass editorializes: “Is this what passes for baseball insight on the North Side, Chip?” Chip Caray is the best play-by-play Chicago baseball announcer in decades–yes, better than his late grandfather. Was your out-of-context cheap shot what passes for journalism on the South Side, John?
