The Rolling Meadows Plan Commission unanimously recommended Wednesday night that the City Council approve a subdivision of 24 single-family homes on the east side of Quentin Road between Hartung Road and Silentbrook Lane.

Aspen Homes Inc. of Palatine is proposing to build the homes, having a minimum of 2,700 square feet on lots averaging 12,254 square feet. The two-story homes with three-car garages would start at $450,000.

Although a neighbor expressed concerns about drainage, Bruce Hawkins, Aspen’s president, said the water flow would be directed away from existing homes.

“We’ve tried to develop a subdivision that fits with other subdivisions established in the community,” said Hawkins. “We plan this to be a nice, upscale community.”

In other action, the commission also recommended that the council also approve an 11,262-square-foot multipurpose building by St. Collette Catholic Church, 3900 Meadow Drive.

The building would serve as a gym for the school and a multipurpose room for social and athletic events for the parish.

The stand-alone 27-foot-high structure would be built on the church’s 15-acre parcel.
