The Village Board has awarded a contract to build the third phase of the road repair project it is sharing with Wood Dale, even though the low bid came in almost $90,000 higher than estimated.
Trustees gave the nod to R.W. Dunteman Co. of Addison for the $1.06 million project. The Wood Dale City Council approved the contract May 18.
The third phase will include rebuilding Pine Lane, replacing sewers and making other infrastructure improvements in the area bounded by Pine, Spruce and Poplar Avenues and Irving Park Road.
Bensenville will pay $279,359 of the cost, Wood Dale $241,221, and DuPage County $543,750.
The three-year project will cost a total of $2.4 million, about $1.4 million of which is coming from county grants. Construction is scheduled to start in early July and end in late November.
Wood Dale and Bensenville combined road reconstruction work along their common border into one large project to coordinate construction schedules, improve their chances of getting grants and attract contractors, said Bensenville grant coordinator Arnold Germain.
