Dear Mr. Johnson: I just read your horrible article about “La Femme Nikita.” What really got my goat was your snide remarks about our campaign to save our favorite show. I don’t care if you don’t like the show and say so in your column, but I do care that you implied that we’re just a few fans because you happened to get a repeated letter.
Many of the fans work and have families to take care of so they do their part by sending a format letter in hopes that the word gets out through the press. I for one did not write to you because I knew of your negative feelings for the series. I chose instead to write to the “nice” Mr. Johnson, Allan, who did write a nice article.
Do not make the mistake of judging a book by its cover or a fandom by a format letter. You as the writer-critic you claim to be should know better. I dare you to print this letter or even to answer it. . . . You awful and tasteless man.
A critic should give intelligent and constructive criticism, not to stoop as low as insulting fans of a particular show just because you dislike said show.
— Lola Bermudez.
