Jacqueline Rita Apel, 66, of Naperville died of cancer Tuesday, May 30, in her home. Born in Chicago, she retired in January as a staff accountant with David P. Lauzen and Co. Accounting Services in Warrenville, where she worked for 23 years. She was also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisle, where she volunteered for various projects and programs. “She had a special way that warmed the hearts of everyone who knew her,” said her husband, Daniel Apel, whom she married in 1991. “The qualities that made her the wonderful person who she was, have left everyone with many beautiful memories.” Other survivors include a son, Carl Middelegge; two daughters, Amy L. Velisek and Julie A. James; a stepdaughter, Nicole; a sister, Patricia A. Phalen; a brother, Daniel L. Skorcz; six grandchildren; and a stepgrandson. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. July 1, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Illinois Highway 53 and Kimberly Way (south of Maple Avenue) in Lisle.
