Thorndale Beach, on the city’s North Side, will be closed until at least 5 p.m. Wednesday, after water samples revealed high levels of bacteria.

The beach, in the 5900 block north along the lakefront, closed Tuesday after test results revealed high levels of potentially dangerous bacteria for a second consecutive day, Chicago Park District officials said.

After a record number of closings due to bacteria along the lakefront a year ago, the Thorndale closing marks the second of this swimming season, which began Memorial Day weekend.
