Sandra Schubert, 56, of Mokena, who spent a career overseeing finances at Arby’s restaurants in the tri-state area and then took over her husband’s nine Car-X Muffler & Brake franchises when he died in 1995, died on Sunday, June 11, in Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, after a four-year battle with cancer, said her daughter, Kristin DiBenedetto. Mrs. Schubert was dedicated to her career, but she worked mostly from home and always put her family first, DiBenedetto said. “She never missed any of her children’s or grandchildren’s activities,” she said. Mrs. Schubert grew up on the Southwest Side and graduated from Fox College in Oak Lawn. She married George Schubert in 1964, and they raised their family in Tinley Park. Mrs. Schubert also helped design and oversaw the construction of her dream home in Mokena. Other survivors include a daughter, Amy Bulger; a son, Todd; her mother, Dolores Burger; sisters, Pat Swanson and Bonnie Schreader; a brother, Matt Burger; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Lawn Funeral Home, 7732 W. 159th St., Orland Park. Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 9300 W. 167th St., Orland Hills.
